The City of Cooper City is a municipal corporation created by Special Act of the Florida Legislature on June 20, 1959. The city is bordered by Pembroke Pines to the south; Town of Davie to it’s north; Davie and SouthWest Ranches to the West; and Davie and Hollywood to it’s east.
In 2006, with the annexation of the Waldrep Dairy Farm, Cooper City started construction on the first major new home construction project within the past few decades. It is expected the addition of the 530-acre property will add upwards of 4,000 new residents through 2012.
Cooper City has been rated as one of the top 10 towns for families by Family Circle.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.7 square miles. 6.35 square miles of it is land and .35 square miles of it is water (5.22%)
